Day 0

We are off! Six weeks of biking and hiking in Europe. With Andrew graduating and Sara off to Germany for 2025-2026 school year we wanted to make sure our kids are really sick of us, so we figured a long biking and hiking trip would ensure that!

We will spend 16 days biking from Lucca (near Florence) to Rome along the via Francigena. Then a train up to Innsbruck where we hike hut to hut (and small towns) through the Austria alps roughly along the Adlerweg. With days off to explore various places along the way.

This trip we tried to give us more time in the places we are going through. Several ‘zero’ days and more days on each end to explorer.

Looking forward to this adventure!

We left Lyons on the 27th and we made our way to Florence without any issues. Planes on time, luggage arrived, ready to explore Firenze!
