Breakfast at the hotel and off we roll. A climb came pretty early in the day and by 10 am we were at the top enjoying the view from high up looking down on Lake Bolsena.

Then a very steep decent on rugged road and we were traveling through the countryside along trails and ancient roads. They had be laid with large flat stone millennium ago and still being travelled.

A short day today and we arrived by 11:30 in Viterbo. Thankfully we were able to get in our room in the old inner walled center and showered. Then lunch and a walk around town to explore the medieval town and its many, many cats.

Back to the small B&B for an afternoon rest and then a delightful dinner under the fig trees. Excellent clams and spaghetti! Then another night of slightly warm AC. Comfortable but we do wish it were cooler!

When we atarted the wheat was green and short. Down here as we approach Rome it is tall, dry and ready to be harvested!
