Today it’s a travel day. 7.5 hrs from Rome to Innsbruck via train with a transfer in Bolzano in northern Italy. Deutsch Bahn seems to be the only way to buy international train tickets and the best prices are always at least 2 weeks in advance. We got ours in mid May and also reserved seats as these trains get very busy. The first train was Trenitalia Frecciarossa, italy's high speed train group.

An hour transfer in Bolzano was perfect as we got food to go from the cafe and then settled in to the busy OOB train direction München, which was packed! As the train pulled in, due to platform construction, we were far from our reserved coach and be Jase the train was late, we had to board before we got to ouch car. That meant a slow wade through people as they found their seats and we finally made it to ours. The seat reservation system is pretty subtle - when the seat number is lite up, it is reserved. Of course we had to inform tge group that had already settled in to ours that we had reserved them.

Everything ran close to on time, and we pulled in to Innsbruck at 4.30, walk to our wonderful Airbnb with beautiful wood everything, and settled in for a few minutes. Then grocery shopping for some hiking snacks and dinner at a Ramen place - we craved food other than noodles, but then we got Japanese noodles?!?!?  But it was very good!

Back to the place and a very comfortable nights sleep. The weather here is cool and beautiful, a very welcome break from the heat we came from! We also all agree - the best beds we get when we travel seem to be in Tyrol!
